UAE Visa Amnesty Programme: Key Details
The two-month UAE visa amnesty programme begins on Sunday, September 1, 2024. This initiative offers those staying illegally in the UAE a chance to regularize their residency status or leave the country without paying fines.
Overview
- Start Date: September 1, 2024
- End Date: October 30, 2024
- No Overstay Fines: There will be no overstay or exit fees.
- No Entry Ban: Those who leave will not face entry bans and can return with the appropriate visa.
Eligibility Criteria
Who Can Apply:
- Visa violators, including tourists and those with expired residency visas.
- Family members of sponsors with expired visas.
- Individuals who have absconded from their sponsors.
- Foreigners born in the UAE without registered residency.
Who Cannot Apply:
- Individuals who entered the UAE illegally.
- Those with deportation cases in the UAE or any GCC country.
- Individuals who acquire absconding cases after September 1, 2024.
Amnesty Benefits
- No Fines: Overstay fines, exit fees, and penalties related to expired national IDs or work contracts are waived.
- No Entry Ban: Exit the UAE without restrictions on future re-entry.
- Fingerprinting: Required for biometric records, which will be processed at designated centers.

Fingerprinting Process
Exit Permit Information
- Validity: 14 days from issuance.
- Extension: Not available; fines and restrictions will reapply after 14 days if departure is not completed.
Traffic Violations & Vehicle Fines
- Requirement: Pay traffic fines and clear any vehicle fines before leaving the country.
Family Visa Issues
- Expired Visa Head of Family: Family members can either leave the country or adjust their status.
- Status Adjustment: If the head of the family adjusts their visa, the residency of other family members will also be updated.
